Weird. The one on my 08 Silverado 4.8 just locks into place. Maybe buy a valve cover for a different engine.

It doesn't tilt out at all? Exposing the o-ring?

Well I’ll be DAMNED. Fits “snug, as a bug, in a rug, with a hug.”

One urban legend is confirmed by Paw Paw.

That valve cover looks like lipstick on a pig. :( Simple Green washing that engine this spring/summer.

The locking tab on the covers with the single tab is at the 6'oclock position so if you can tilt the fill tube down far as you can and twist sometimes it pops out. Id it doesn't you have to pull the cover and use a pick tool to pry the locking tab loose.
@89Suburban Looking at the pic of this one it appears that it would work for you.

Or, maybe not.

You sir, have just found the first pic I ever saw of the "2 tab" cover, and they are clocked 90 degrees different from the single tab cover. That explains why the tube I bought didn't clock into the right position. Can't believe all these parts sites we shop on don't specify this. Good find!!!

I see that eBay listing is for the 1-tab filler tube. Are you going to order it?

Nah I pissed enough money away on this, taking a break and running with the cap for just now. Maybe later. This ****** winter weather is killing the tinkering mood too. :(
