What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Nuttin' to mine today, but yesterday I pulled the cluster out of my neighbor's Hoe. Started the cluster re-work today. I'll fix dead bulbs and replace the stepper motors. Here's a pic of the board with the old steppers and the two dead backlights marked with red:

I had to not and bolt a stripped hole.

Not on this one. It's the neighbors' Hoe that needs a tranny they can't afford so they're not driving it. They're not sure what they'll do with it, they owe a pile of money on it and I offered to clean up the cluster. It's good practice for me and I'm doing it for free just to see what it takes.

Thanks, @Sam Harris and @Rocket Man. They may eventually get a tranny for it so at least for now they'll be able to tell how much gas is in it. They tried to start it the other day -- they run it every couple of weeks or so to make sure it runs -- but it was out of gas and they couldn't tell by the gauge. It was pointing straight down. We added a couple of gallons and the 4.8L fired right up.

EDIT: if I had the wherewith-all and a decent place to work I'd help them with the tranny. They're good neighbors and help out where they can.

i know its not a huge fan, but you got a relay wired in? they put far less of a strain on the battery when you use one. i did twin 16 inch fans, and removed my clutch fan years ago. i put them on a switch and a relay for each fan.

Da fuq?! Do y'all salt your oil to keep it from freezing? I thought those were all the same, from the same Chinese factory. Apparently, someone made their baffle out of regular steel instead of the stainless the others and/or original ones are.

Indeed. I'm glad you found this and posted up cuz that's the same type I've referred others to based on my experience with them. But, the few I've used, they all had stainless steel and aluminum guts. Maybe one manufacturer makes the main body and other companies stuff 'em with their baffles, etc. and some use mild steel.

The other day, I found one of my tag lights had a broken tab, so was loose and rattling around... replaced both with OEM parts. Damn snow got us again.. another 6” or so on the ground here, and hardly anywhere else got much at all. So dirty truck.. Tough install. [emoji23]

And, recently, I posted, looking for the seat frame plastic cover part number, since mine is warped.

As @Fless suspected, the last tab was not properly secured.. all I needed to do, was shine a light in there to see the bent plastic tab, and the metal clip not attached:

Popped those into their correct locations, and it’s made a significant difference. Unfortunately, the piece is still warped, from being that way for some time, but much better than it was.. I’d still like to replace it if I can locate a better piece:

Some crummy pics of the aftermath, stepper motors, backlighting, PRND321 was barely lit. I couldn't power it all up at once since the connector pins are too close together. Everything seems to work okay and I'll get with the neighbor and reinstall this weekend.

That might work, just make sure not to heat it too much. Plastic tends to have a “memory” and the right amount of heat can make it regain its original shape.

Yup, I was thinking the same.. don’t want to do too much, but I’ll give it a little heat, and see if I can get it to flatten a little more. It’s already much better.

Yes, there's a dedicated relay for it. I'd like to do the electric fans too sometime in the future. =)
