I've been debating doing this too. The one I picked up is black and I was deciding; go painted to match my gray or just send it. But this looks great, I might just send it!

Swapped my grille for honeycomb. I like the oem RST unit but mine is damaged due to bird strike and it needs to be welded professionally. It may go back on it some day but for now I’m liking this new one a lot.

installed a new oem 220amp alternator p/n 84143541
the large case alternators always "look" bigger but they bolt right in the same (the mount is the exact same size)
if you ever go to install a new alternator you may find they are snug and will not just come out nor will the new one just slide on
never pound on it with a hammer, the casing is cast aluminum and it can crack, use a dead blow or a piece of wood as the contact medium
this little pry tool (shaped like a mini haligan tool) is super handy for prying it out and for lining up the bolt holes.

Did some good maintenance this weekend.
Changed motor oil (Driven DI30)
Changed rear diff fluid.
Flipped “the pill” (thermostat) on the new trans.
Changed the main drive belt.
Finally took apart the area under the steering wheel and got rid of a rattle that was driving me insane.. Turned out to be a random bolt that vibrated loose.

And then gave her a good hand wash for good measure.

I am truly enjoying the AUTO SYNC G2.

I was able to disable the BOW so now I have LED bulbs in all halogen spots without any hyperflash.
I extended the remote start run time from 15min to 20min seems to be the perfect amount for my needs.

This access to all this vehicle info is quite nice especially if you ever go towing something you can keep tabs on all the key parameters with real data not just a dummy gauge that says temp is normal.

Anyone else rock a front hitch?
Apparently CURT 31073 makes them for our trucks.

a couple people have installed them and I know at least 1 has modified the rough country hidden mount that they sell like this one I put on the silverado, the frames are not that much different, it would just take a little modification as far as I know

Im in Michigan and with the first warm days hitting 80-85F the Suburban is running way hotter than I want. In the winter it sat mostly at 194-200 and that was a sweet spot but with the use of AC im starting to see 219-225 and I did not like that at all. Way too hot.

Good old HPT looked at the desired state of the fans and they were set to run at 10-20% all the way up to 235F.... so I did some agressive ramp up so at 200F they run at 10% then by 225 they are all the way up to 50%. The rest is factory cal since I dont ever plan on getting the engine hotter than these temps plus the factory cal jumps agressively to 90% after those cirtical temps.

Once nice thing I see now is when i stop a traffic light the fan deamnd jumps from 10 to 30 and even all the way to 50% and as I get moving again it comes down. AC cooling has been greatly improved too.

So if you are looking for a way to gain control over your cooling needs on your rig, I will share my tunning file.

that shouldn't be happening with a good working cooling system, I would guess either the thermostat is goofy or it needs a new radiator or both

Bought the car in the cold of January so this could very well be the issue. Thermostat was stuck open so it was replaced.

So far it’s working very well but a new radiator is on hand and could be replaced soon.

did you use a oem thermostat?, every time it warms up it's like clockwork these k2's have cooling problems, there will weekly post's about it soon.

The stock one was 203F I believe or 208 and was stuck open. I changed it with motorad which was 194. Seems to be working well.

Did an oil change (Wix filter and Pennzoil Ultra Premium 0W-20)

Swapped over from wranger duratracs to michelin energy saver (stock tire) for the summer. About 1/8th of tread left so it’ll the the last season for these tires. Will be thankful for the improved MPGs since gas prices have now surpassed $4.00 a gallon here.

Productive weekend:
Picked up and installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on Saturday
Picked up and installed Accel ceramic booted plug wires on Sunday
Continued to tweak the tune, but it's running pretty strong at 196k miles and counting
