Weird whooshing sound

So driving the other day I started noticing this weird and whooshing sound at about 2k rpms and up, engine runs fine but but this air rushing sound is driving me insane, can't seem to find what the cause of it could be.

Sounds like the fan clutch is staying in gaged or you have a bad pully.

Judging by the hood line Id say this is supposed to be 2000-2006? Its posted in the 2015+ section. If older model, x3 fan clutch.

That wooshing sound is also a drag on your fuel economy. My 2005 & 2006 Buick Rainier every now and then would do this and I could feel the decrease in power. Good thing to get fixed IMHO.

Well... Just got the fan Clutch changed and sound is still there :S I know for sure that the fan is turning with the rpms of the truck which is what makes the whooshing sound, so I'm wondering that if the fan Clutch is good maybe there's a sensor or something making the fan activate instead of just staying on idle? Not sure how this all really works but I know the temp on the truck is perfectly fine, it stays right before half like is always has and like every other Yukon.

Does it change any after it warms up? When I installed my new fan clutch, it would sound like a semi taking off from a dead stop, it really pulled some air, until the engine was warmed up and it quieted down. Seems opposite of what it was supposed to do but it works. The fan clutch itself it just temperature regulated, there is no sensor for it specifically. The pcm may increase idle speed for certain conditions. I listened to your video again and thats pretty much exactly how mine sounds with my severe duty fan clutch when its cold.

Take the fan clutch back and get a factory electric fan setup from a later model. It'll fix the sound and free up some power.

Yeah naw it's running at full click all the time... Not engine temp does not move from normal and it seems to be worse in first gear maybe? Haven't driven it much I'll keep an eye out on it for more specific symptoms.
I have a straight flowmaster exhaust so it's pretty loud and I know the fan wasn't making noise at all before, then it started being engaged all the time so the mechanic changed it and not it still sounds a lot maybe not as much but still hear it over my exhaust with the windows down.

Would getting the pm refreshed maybe fix it? I mean the fan Clutch is brand new so I could get it changed in case it was bad but highly doubt it was bad. Maybe the pcm notices the old one going bad so it always engaged it and now it doesn't notice this is a new one? Idk lol I just made a whole movie up in my mind haha don't really know how it works but maybe? I

The clutch is purely mechanical- no electronic control. I see a lot of people replace their fan clutches with heavy duty versions thinking they'll last longer or whatever. The HD versions just are clutched more firmly and end up being engaged when they're not needed, if not all the time. Maybe your mechanic installed an HD clutch?

I’m not familiar with the older platforms clutch fans, but is this a mechanical fan that has wires going to the front of it? If it does, there could be a temperature sensor on the motor that has gone bad that turns the fan on and off, leaving yours on all the time. If this is the older type clutch fan, that uses a bimetal strip (valve) to move the viscus fluid from one chamber to the next. That turns your fan on and off by temperature transfer from the motor. Maybe the mechanic only replaced the fan itself and not the clutch?

So I flashed the ecu and now it works fine, not perfect because the old one would never make noise when under throttle and now it still does, however it only does while it's warming up and we all know our 5.3s heat up quick. So 5 min from starting no matter the rpms the fan stays in idle so I guess problem fixed.
