About to pick up an XL and want to go bigger than 22" wheels without the banana peel tire look of 30 or 35 series tires. Anyone used this size? Wheel will be 24 x 10 with a 25mm offset. Can't seem to find anyone using a 40 or 45 series tire using the search function, but surely they must be out there somewhere. I do not want to lower the vehicle from the stock height.

Thanks!

That is a strange size. There is plenty on meat on a 305/35 R24.

Haha with a +25 offset you will rub minorly, even with a 295/35/24.
With a 305/40/24 you will tear up the liner, get a 285/35/24 or a 285/40/24 and you will rub slightly, but still have meat on the tires. A 285/35/25 s your best bet, you will not rub with that size.

What offset would be best to avoid any clearance issues for a 285-305 width tire on a 24x10" wheel? The 285/40-24 is 33" tall and the 305/35-24 is only 32.4" tall - plus I can get a set of Grabber UHP's in the 285/40's for $800 shipped. I know some people with 305/45-22's have some minor rubbing issues so I figured the 285's might help that while at the same time still fit ok on the 10" wheel.

I'm interested in the best offset for this size wheel and also knowing how bad rubbing issues will be with either of these two tire sizes on a 24" wheel. I know 22's will look really good but the 24's are just sick man :)

Thanks again for the help!

Oh I thouht you originally posted about 305/40/24.
A 285 will clear with a +25 offset with no rubbing. For a 305 you will need a +35. If you get a 285/40 tire you will rub no matter what offset you have. With a 305 or 295/35/24 with the above offsets you will be fine. General tires are alright, but the price is by no means worth all the rubbing you will have. Plus with that size tire your 24s will look like 22s.
I would look around more, I know people who can get me 305/35/24 tires for like $500-$600 depending on the brand.

You say a 285 will clear with +25 offset but then that a 285/40 will rub no matter what? Can you clarify your comment for me? What is the best offset for clearance on a 24x10 - 35mm? Why do the General tires rub more than other brands? They seem to be rated very highly on most reviews.

Thanks!

Ideally you would want to be around a +35 offset on an NNBS.

Also, different tire manufactures sizes can vary. For example, a 305/35 R24 General is a little taller than a Nitto 305/35 R24. I used to run the Generals on my Escalade and they were a decent tire. However they do not hold a candle to the Nitto 420s. These are quite possibly the best all season R24 tire I have ever experienced.

I meant a 285/35/24 will be fine with a +25 offset, a 285/40/24 will rub all day. The best offset is +35mm, but something lower (like +25) can be used with varying smaller tire sizes.

Ok then I will try to look for a +35mm offset to limit aby rubbing issues. My wife runs the Nitto 420's on her Trailblazer SS, and I have to agree the are the best truck tire that I have ever used. Maybe I will try the 285/40-24 if I can get the optimal offset - otherwise I may just use the 305/35-24. That seems to be what everyone is running, but I get scared about damaging wheels due to the lower profile tires.
