Vinyl wrapping B pillar black?

Included is a piss poor photoshop of the general idea ...

I suppose it's sort of an Escalade thing, except I'm not sure I'd wrap it in gloss black ... I might wrap it in matte black to match the existing window trim.

I'm thinking it might actually look good ... although I do worry about the transition to paint, especially at the top.

I suppose I could plasti-dip it but I'm thinking quality vinyl wrap will be better in the long run.

Thoughts?

micahthomson on here has his silver Avalanche done like that. I'm not sure what his process was. Maybe he will chime in. I think it looks pretty good.

(CHIME) I used black vinyl to wrap around to the window edge and then used a laser cut black polycarbonate piece on top to make it highly reflective.

It looked good with vinyl only though so you could try it out that way. I had already ordered the other pieces though.

I'd try it. The vinyl can't be more than $5 or even free for some left over pieces from a shop. I'd do gloss black on mine to match my blacked out windows. I can do this on Monday when my buddies shop opens...

@Micah: I'm trying to avoid stick plastic trim pieces on my truck, because one can usually tell that they glued on there due to their thickness. I've actually seen the ones you have in person and they don't cover everything from window to window, so like you, one has to add vinyl to finish it right. I'm figuring at this point might as well do it in one vinyl finish.

@Nathan: Yeah I'm also leaning gloss ... it would match both the windows and the esky mirror sail. My only thought on matte was to match the matte black window trim.

What do you guys think about also wrapping the little angled painted part below the front and rear windows so that the gloss black flows back from the bottom of the side mirror sail?

I say no to any vinyl. Truck looks clean as is. That makes it look too much like a ford in my opinion.

@ Serge. I see what your saying about the lower piece (from the mirror), but I wouldn't do that. It's a little too much black vinyl.

any sign shop will have them. You can ask if they have extra vinyl laying around (from cut outs form other signs they've recently made) and usually they will give you it for free.



I know a guy that does signs & stickers and can get pretty much all the vinyl I need for free...

same as everything else... cheap vinyl = poor quality

Driving around today I saw an Escalade and noticed their B pillars are black. So it's basically what yours would look like minus the chrome trim going across the bottom

So I'm in the NYC area next week and I'm hooking up with Lightmodz to try this out.
They are new company that does retros and a bunch of other car mods
We'll see how it goes ... good thing about wrao is I can always take it off if I hate it.
