i just picked up a set of hertz 6.5" componenets. the mid bass will be goin in the factory location. but is there any advantage to mount the tweeters in another spot like up higher on the door panel or on the a-pillar? or will the factory location suffice as well for the tweeter.

really up to you. I mounted mine in the door, right next to the midbass. Just plug them in, and use double sided tape and mount them in different locations, until you find the 'sweet spot' for your listening. Then mount them there.

I've personally found them to work best on the A pillar so that the sound is pointed more directly at your ear. Most tweeters and their mounting hardware, though, allow you to mount them one place and aim them accordingly from there.

Anyway, just another thing to think about.... :)

Alway heard its good to mount them up near ear level. Or at least point them towards the ear for better sound. Thats why factory tweets are always up high or pointed to bounce high of the windshield. Something to ponder.
