The light is on for my TPMS system and the passenger front is blank. So my question is do I need to bring this to the dealer or can I buy the sensor online 30-40 bucks and have it installed?

As long as it is for your year range of truck then you can buy one online and have a tire shop install it.

Thats what I thought but the used car dealer told me I have to bring to the dealer.....IDK

I stopped at a local used tire shop and he wants 125 bucks! When I started to walk away he told me 110! I told him I can buy the sensor online for 30-40 dollars he went on to tell me it has to be programmed. I know this thing has a "relearning mode" on the dash but not certain as to if it applies with new sensors??

before you spend a dime, take it to a dealer and ask them to relearn all the tires. they should do it at no cost (my local scam-artist-in-the-making dealership did). I noticed that sometimes they go out on their own and it might not be completely dead. if that doesn't work, then yeah get it cheap and have a tire shop put em in.

They like to tell you a lot of things

There paying for it the only thing is brining it to the dealer is a time consuming process, who knows maybe have to leave it!

Just trying to get the facts......

if the dealer is hard to get to, take it to a tire shop you've done business with before and ask them to relearn the sensors. maybe they will, maybe they won't, but free and easy is a good place to start.

I bought 4 Sensors off eBay which were installed on my friends 2004 YUKON, NO PROBLEMS at all.

I hate to bring up an old topic, but thought it might be better than starting a new one. I recently bought a new sensor and had it installed with the new tire I bought. I went through the re-learning process and all the tires re-adjusted except for the new one. It only reads 0. I've tried the process several times with both adding air and removing it.

Any idea what it could be?

If you replaced the sensor, you need to have it programmed somewhere like a tire shop or the dealer. It won't just automatically learn. If you haven't changed any of them out, it is probably just a dead sensor. I work at discount tire and see this happen all the time.

Ok. Never heard of this. I went through the re-learning instructions. Guess I will have to give a tire shop a call.

Just go to a Mavis or Sears Car Center and they will "zap it". I had a dead sensor, bought a new one but then the shop hooked up a small machine and got it working in about 30 seconds. Didnt even charge me but I through him 10 bucks.......

How does this relearning/programming process work? I have a new set of SS wheels that I plan on installing soon. I would like to be informed so i don't get a screw job. Local shops seem to want around $100 per sensor so I want to buy a set on eBay. Any tips on what to buy?

Hey make sure you bought the right sensor. I was having the same issue i bought 4 sensors and had a tire shop install them. After 2 tries I was able to do the relearning process and now I am happy the sign on my dash is off..
