I agree that you need to let him know right away that he needs to get in this now, not in a week it two. He isn’t going to do shit if you don’t let him know you’re fed up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. He is taking advantage of you being nice just because he isn’t charging much. At this point your discount isn’t worth it, is it? It wouldn’t be for me. I would be on his ass, you’ve waited FOREVER.

This.

You’ve been well more than patient Tony. It’s been for damn ever. And now he’s planning to drag it out further. No way! I think you need to let him know right away this needs to be taken care of as a priority!

He told me he has to go to Florida--again--to pick up a car this week. I'm just so frustrated, pissed off,disgusted--I actually need time to cool off. I don't want to say anything now thatI'll regret later. He still does have my truck. So the time is more for me then it is for him. I actually am a hot head--but I have to go into this calmly.
I hope this makes sense and you guys will agree with me.

Tell him you’ll go to Florida and get the damn car so he can keep his ass in the shop fixing your Tahoe. You get a bunch of windshield time to cool down and he gets to not have his ass reamed.

Been friends for 8 yrs.
You did notice I had “chat” in quotes, right? Many ways to communicate. I am a firm believer that the careful application of terror is an effective form of communication.
If I started punching him I don't think I'd be able to stop. On all seriousness I'm not willing to go to jail for him, so it's just better if I calm down.

So is this engine issue his fault or was the engine crap before the install?

I completely understand. I have had to learn to walk away from things due to a bad temper myself.

Seriously, I was telling my wife about it and told her I am pretty close to seeing if a group of guys could meet up in NJ and get the truck and knock it out over a weekend.

I'd say it was his fault. New/used motor went to the machine shop to get cam bearings installed. Idk what internals he used. I don't think I told him what heads to use--But--if I know the old heads had the behive springs in them, and you'd think he would've checked over the old heads and make sure everything was good to go.

We aren’t helping the situation. He’s already extremely pissed off and wants to punch this guys face off and honestly that won’t get him anywhere but thrown in jail with heavy fines and probably back on the surgical table for his shoulder. Calm heads prevail.
Catch more bees with honey. Take a few days to get your blood pressure back down and see what the issue was before figuring out course of action. We all make mistakes and sounds like this dude is spread thin and rushing jobs just to get on to the next one. That’s no excuse but being calm and collective to figure out the diagnosis is what needs to happen now. Then find out what needs to be done to rectify the situation is second. Explaining that you’ve been friends for 8 years and you value his skills and trust him to do what’s right is probably gonna get this solved faster than screaming and dropping F bombs. He can easily say it was from the machine shop or the used engine and not take any responsibility and bow out of it altogether. Then it goes to the next shop where it costs more money out of pocket and if that shop says it was from the first mechanic it turns into a small claims case and all this turns into years of aggravation and heart ache.
Your doing the right thing brother. Stay proactive but not over reacting. By giving this douchbag a few days to think about what he did wrong might work in your favor and if he has any morals or dignity he will make this right and do it in a timely fashion. You have enough on your plate right now to be getting worked up over something you can’t control. You trusted this guy and were friends with him for a reason. Let’s see if he values that friendship as much as you did. Hope this has a good ending, I’m pulling for ya bud.
