Off-road?
Snow?
Highway?
Towing?

If you’re looking for the “best of the best” it will depend on how you use your vehicle.

Michelin Defender LTX. Great traction in all weather conditions, quiet, last forever. I have 50K on the ones on my 2012 (20K of those towing), and they still look great. I estimate they'll go another 20K before they hit the wear bars:

Also interested for my 2011 Yukon XL Denali. It's stored in the winter (no rust at all) and I use it for mostly highway/towing in the warmer months. Stock sized Michelins now. Looking for the best tire for highway/towing. I have used General Grabber AT2s on previous vehicles.

Anyone else feel like this is a wild goose chase? Let's ask about the best tires - for what purpose? Is the truck going to be a pavement princess, towing heavy, exposed to snow or hostile terrain?? Defenders are great overall however other products can and do a better job, depending on the need. Also, price is not a consideration....suspect!

Nitto Ridge Grapplers are really good all around tire
I run these Nittos. 295/55/20. Aggressive looks, quiet, and last pretty dang long. I'm actually looking for a holiday sale to get another set for the future.

I like geese! Anyway, yeah the defenders are good but Duratracks would outdo them in the mud and snow for sure. Then theres the grapplers and the Wildpeaks and…

You are right to ask what the intended use is.

Defenders! I had the KO2s and they are great for what they are. However, I have played off-road some with the Defenders and they have gone everywhere the KO2s and the Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts have gone without getting stuck. They are not snow rated but do well in the snow according to reviews and testimonials. KO2s are snow rated.

Personally, I have Copper Discoverer ATs, which are snow rated (needed for New England) and have served me well. I feel like the first step is always to figure out what the primary use will be, then research available options, read reviews, and once narrowed down - ask opinions! :2cents:

ATs or AT3 4s?

I had the latter and they were terrible in 285/45-r22
Took them off at 20k
