We have a county recycling center about 10 minutes from us that takes used motor oil and antifreeze, free of charge.

Its a state by state thing for the oil recycling. Colorado is required for anyplace that sells oil, even oil change places, they have to take oil for recycling for no charge.
We have Wal Mart, Auto Zone, Advance Auto / Car Quest, O'Reilly and maybe another or two that take used oil and transmission fluid.
EDIT: recently my son put his townhouse up for sale, and we cleaned up and straightened up the garage. When I left that day, I had more than 10 gallons of used motor oil. I stopped at three or four places on the way home and donated 10 quarts each time, spreading the love.

There is a Wal-Mart close by and they have an auto center garage. I am going today to check with them about waste oil. I also see that they advertise that they do take waste oil. We have a local recycling center that also takes it but it is a huge PITA just getting to it and thru the check points.
Some places in Colorado have limits, but we can usually get rid of two 5-quart jugs at a time without any hassle.

No need to worry about it now. As of this morning, I will be working at my friends shop and on computer at home, 2-3 days a week and can dump oil there.

Looked about 15 minutes ago and actually pointed to them so she could see with her own eyes. I showed the clamps on my Tahoe and she has the same 3 bolts broke. Both back bolts and the d/s front. Ordered all 4 kits and the 3rd brake light. More work for me. 4th kit is for when her other bolt breaks. Is gonna happen for sure with 196k miles on her Tahoe.

Well, got the 1991 K2500 5.7 dropped this morning. Got the new headlights in, PITA silver grill/bumper filler with push pins to attach at bottom of grill. All releasing and reinstalling of those pins is done blind from above by releasing all other grill bolts and screws and lean it out and then took a clip to find the push clip heads and pry down and pull the pins out. Got the headlights installed and then reinstall pins from below, strictly by feel. I have said before that I have eyes in the end of my fingers. Installed new under hood light and wired in and then replaced the roll out engine bay light and verified both work fine. Then on to the engine oil cooler lines. Changed the adaptors at the oil filter housing. 26mm wrench to break loose. early this morning, I hit them with PB Blaster and let it work at the threads while I did the other work. The lower adaptor cane out after breaking loose and then using a 26mm socket. No such luck with the upper adaptor. Could not slip the thin wall socket between the adaptor and the rolled lip of the oil pan. Had to do 1/8th turns with my wrench and then finally loose enough to unthread with fingers. Routed the new lines and attached at the stand off and then threaded in at the radiator. Topped off lost oil and ran for 15 minutes at idle and no leaks. Road test and checked and no leaks. 4 total hours for everything.

I've always thought those lights on the reels were such a great idea by GM. They still sell them new? I grabbed one from the jy to install underhood in my 03.

They are a discontinued part/light. The one I installed is from an ebay junkyard and works like new. The only thing I had to swap over was the plastic dome over the bulb. Easy to do. Just twists off and on.

Went back to work on the 2005 Tahoe today. Started with a new 3rd brake light. Then on to the exhaust manifold broken end bolts. Did the driver's side front and rear and the passenger side rear. I had 4 kits and the p/s front end bolt broke loose and came out. I had the extra kit if that bolt broke but it did not break. I installed a new manifold bolt. As usual, the d/s rear bracket kit was a PITA and the p/s rear required the dipstick removal and then the starter unbolted to allow for me to find the dipstick hole when I went back together. All together and no problems and drove out with no noises.
Got a NICE gouge on my left forearm that bled pretty good and after cleaning, my girl sprayed the Bactine on it and watched me squint.

I did not even feel it or knew I did it. I was dripping blood and my girl said, "STOP RIGHT NOW"!!! She cleaned me up a bit and kept an eye on it till I finished up. Then the soap scrub and the BACTINE!

That Tahoe is a widow friend from the American Legion. I knew her husband really well.
That Tahoe has 196k miles and runs great, especially after recent plugs, coils, wires, clean throttle bore and MAF cleaning, that I did. No salt on roads in Oregon and I wipe every thing done when I work on it.
