Sub Box Bolt Down...

How are you guys bolting down your sub boxes?? I'm finishing up my system install and was curious how everybody has done theirs.

When i drive by myself, its not bolted down. When i have passengers in the car, i strap it down with a ratchet strap. One way i could imagine you do, is to screw/bolt it down then install the subs in the box.

mine had the 3rd row seats, so I used some U-bolts under the rods in the floor for the 3rd row to bolt mine down with

+1 on the U bolts!! I've done that before also when I use to do installs and its pretty secure..just don't forget the washers inside the box..

I have 2 ALpine Type-R 12's and they NEVER MOVE. I think they are too heavy to move in the back.

There was an accident, a few years ago, where the driver was killed when his Subs came up over the back seat during an accident. Now granted he was speeding and hit the tree/wall... cant rember, but I recall the report of the damage to the back of his head from the speakers... not to mention in my last truck my wife constantly reminded me of this fact after I put new ones in... (she didnt find it humorous that I told her I pushed both subs to her side of the truck.

Even if you have one sub that weighs 40lbs without box, thats a lot of weight coming at you.

Not only am I looking at this from a safety point of veiw but I want an anti-theft system too. On a side note Matt, now I know why you got 1/2" drop with those tb springs. Mine raised 1/2" but I don't have my rear seats in nor a box (yet). Those springs definitely have a much lower spring rate. I guess we'll see how much it lowers after I put everything back in.

My box has never moved in all the off road jarring around I have done. 2 15s in a heavy ass box. But it would probably move in a bad accident. Ratchet strap is a good idea. Most people probably dont like how that would look though. Might have to find a way to secure mine

i had L brackets on my box in between the back of the box and my back seat so you couldnt see it..

my box weighs 195lbs by itself and my subs are 87.5 ea but i am still bolting mine to the false floor when i get done

With this logic, everytime you put any cargo in your truck it should be bolted down.
