I've got a 2012 Tahoe w/ bose w/o navigation, and I already have a ****** Boss stereo installed w/ a crux adapter.

I'm way too picky, and cannot for the life of me decide on a radio. I'm looking for one with carplay, a volume knob / physical buttons, a DVD or CD player, and preferably some sort of internal DSP. Unfortunately, something needs to be sacrificed. I would like to ask for recommendations based on yall's experience.

My main question is regarding DVD stereos. On Crutchfield, every available DVD stereo says it won't fit due to being too deep, with an available cavity of 6.4". Can I shove a DVD stereo in there anyway? Or could I do so with some light modification? Or is it just not feasible?

I'm currently between two options. The Pioneer AVH-3500NEX looks like my best option, but it is apparently half an inch too deep. The Sony XAV-AX6000 is my other option, which fits but has no knob or dvd/cd player.

Thanks,
Christopher

the pioneer will fit and work fine, there is a small area in the radio cavity that should be cut out, it is just for airflow and does not affect anything.
I cut this little area out for the fan on the rear of the pioneer to have airflow, all it is originally is a pin hole bracket to help support the stock radio

Awesome, thank you so much! I’m definitely pulling the trigger on the pioneer then, a flip-out screen is so so so cool. Do you have any pictures of what yours looks like? Just curious. Thanks again!

I was not aware that particular pioneer was a flip out, in that case it's going to be trickly because when the flip out is extending and your are moving the shifter it can be a problem or the screen can be in the way. I had a couple flip out's on my gmt800's but the gmt900 shifter location is closer I think.
I have not seen a flip out on a gmt900
I have the pioneer avic w8400nex which is a 7" double din.
you can do all kinds of crap with it
