Last night both SabiliTrak lights came on, and the engine speed is now greatly reduced when diving. Very slow to move from a stop light, but can still eventually get it going to around 40 to drive it. Normal local garage owner on vacation, GMC dealer does not accept vehicles over 10 yeas old for service (must be nice!).
My first question is can I drive it like this, maybe 30 miles a day to get back and forth to work. Pushing the dash traction button seems to have no affect on the dash light messages. Looked at it again this morning and the same lights are still on when you turn the key (without starting the vehicle). Auto start from the key pad also does not owrk, but has not for some months. Rebuilt GMC transmission put in about a year ago. 198,000 miles on the vehicle. ANy suggestions? Can i drive it until my mechanic comes back from vacation?

Lots of things can kick stabilitrak off, although I don't think most of them would slow the truck right off the line...

Possible throttle body or pedal issue?
Brake switch thinking you're braking? (check brake lights are off maybe, but I'm pretty sure there are two circuits in there)

You could also pull the abs fuse(s). That might rule out the ebcm and traction related sensors.

Generally too much guesswork and $$ without codes..

Most likely OK to drive if no strange noises, but sounds unsafe pulling out?

Thanks for our reply. Yes, it does make some noises when starting out. A brief message also came on about a "valve needing replacing," but that message never came on again. BUt with the system shut down, the engine speed is automatially limited, as it says on the owners manual, and is happening. I also noticed the brake pedal seems to have gotten a little higher up.

I do not have a way to check any codes. My gararge guy also dives a GMC surbrban and is quit familiar with these vehicles. Unfortunately, he is on vacation for a week.

Any autoparts stores nearby? They might have a loaner..

I would NOT drive it, IF you suspect a braking issue..
I believe a misfire can disable stabilitrak?
What kind of noise?
Any hard vibrations touching engine can trip the knock sensors, severely cutting ignition timing and power.

Thanks for your advice. I started the Yukon around noontime, and the signal lights went away. No problem to drive it normally to work. Drove home tonight and no issues. It went above freezing today, and I noticed melting big snow chunks under the vehicle. We had almost 2 weeks of below freezing weather, including about 16" of snow, and this is the first time it went above freezing in a long time. So perhaps that zero degree weather and the snow caused the problem. All ok now. Thanks again.

You can have a code reader to your door in a day or two and download an app to your phone. If you have an IPhone, the CarScanner app in the Play Store can see ALL modules and codes. If you have an Android, you can see just the engine codes with the Torque app. I use Torque Pro.

Gotta know the codes so you don't waste time or money guessing.
