Does anyone know the specific differences on a 2011 built with FE9 federal emissions vs state specific standards, such as NE1 for instance?

Is there additional parts/components or same parts/components with some different aspects, or is it different computer tuning?

Any info would be appreciated.

I'm in Ohio. Typically vehicles sold in Ohio would have FE9 Federal emissions, although being close to PA, sometimes vehicles end up on the lots here with one of the state specific emission package.

The RPOs in question (FE9, NE1) belong to a group of emission related rpos that designate an emission geographical sales restriction.
NE1- built for sale in NorthEast states
YF5-built for sale in California
FE9-built for sale in the 'other' Federal states

The emission standard plus the type and class of vehicle will dictate what the calibration and hardware content of the vehicle is. Most vehicles nowadays are built to satisfy all emission standards nationwide which means there would be no calibration or hardware changes but there are still a few that will have calibrations and/or hardware differences.

The Geographical rpos are straight forward whereas the emission standard rpos are more complicated.

Hope this information helps.

Thank you,
Caron, GM Customer Service

So say a 2011 LTS Yukon with FE9 sold in Ohio vs a 2011 LTS Yukon with NE1 sold in Pennsylvania, what might the difference be?
