*Solved* Intake Air Temperature Sensor

2019 Tahoe LT 5.3
My check engine light came on and it's showing P0097 "intake air temperature sensor 2 circuit low bank 1" and P2199 "Intake air temperature sensor 1/2 correlation". Can anyone tell me where this sensor is located? I cannot seem to find a diagram anywhere.

Generally in the air intake tube between the filter housing and throttle body. It may be on the backside of the tube where it’s hard to see.

It's built into (combined with) the MAF sensor, in the intake tube as @Big Mama indicated.

The MAF, ambient air temp sensor, air pressure sensor and air filter were all replaced a few months ago and I am still getting the same codes. I have unhooked the negative battery cable on numerous occasions but after a few miles the engine light always comes back on and shows the same code

Is your air cleaner and filter secure or do you have an aftermarket cold air intake? I would get this code anytime the filter on my CAI either came off bc the hose clamp wasn't tight enough or a portion of my intake wasn't secure. If all of that is good check the connector to the MAF for a frayed wire or a loose pin. Are there any other stored codes?

Stock intake.
Permanent stored codes are
P2199: Intake temp sensor 1/2 correlation,
P0097: Intake air temp sensor 2 circuit low bank 1,
P0096: Intake air temp sensor 2 circuit range/performance bank 1 and
P00F4: Humidity sensor circuit low.
Connectors to MAF are good

What brand is the MAF/IAT sensor? These trucks love the GM product much more than aftermarket.

If you can put a scanner on it that can read the freeze frame data for the codes that concern you, the data might show which element is out of spec, and how.

I'm not familiar with the later models but I suspect -- if the circuit description message ("circuit low") is accurate -- that a reference signal (5v?) is missing or compromised. Just a guess, though.

Problem resolved...hopefully. Replaced the MAF sensor (again) and all is well, thus far.

I had all the exact codes pop up on my truck recently. I changed the MAF sensor 3 months ago. I am going to change it again today and see if that will fix it again. I was scared something worse was wrong.

This just happened to me AFTER I had a well-known company replace my front brake pads, BUT they said they went and did a stress test on my battery when I told them NOT to do anything else but the pads. I bought a dongle, got similar MAF/IAT codes as described above, and cleared them all, CEL light disappeared, all sitting in the driveway idling. But an hour, got in the car to run an errand and backing down the driveway, CEL came on again. I'll check the codes again, but I'm assuming it's the same ones. I do not believe in coincidences, so I'm assuming they jostled the MAF connection. I'll check that out when it stops pouring down rain.

From left to right we got

4.7, 4.7, ground, a flakey ground, 12v, 4.7, ground, 4.7

The flakey ground was showing .02~.04 and it wasn't clean\steady, like the other 2 grounds or any other ground we touched on the truck. Not sure if I can just tie in a new ground wire to that line or if it talks back to the computer but this is a mess. I just replaced the MAF sensor and purchased a MAP sensor as well which I am going to try to install today. The MAP sensor is relocated to the rear of the intake manifold on Whipple supercharger installs so its a far reach for me and I may need a mechanics assistance

There is a whipple adapder that goes between the GM harness and the MAF but the readings were the same on the adapter and GM harness.

Please help! I am supposed to be leaving for Lime Rock Thursday night and I am scared sh1tless that I am going to have a break down in the middle of the track over a stupid sensor.

Almost 9 years and 118k and this truck has never let me down. This is the first time I am scared to drive it.

funny thing my map sensor took a hard crap saturday evening, replaced it and everything seems to be ok now but I was poking around as it was a couple weird codes
this video may or may not be helpful, has some detailed information on the maf harness. this is for a sierra but it is a identical system, doesn't matter if suv/pickup they run the same and have the same enignes.

Just watched the video - I am getting the same readings. Gonna try and replace the MAP tonight if I can reach it. Funny thing - that guy is located in Jersey so I just reached out to him to see if he is available and his rate. Hopefully he responds.
