Solar panel installed

15w (180volts) solar panel is attached to my roof rack. The panel is connected to a regulator which doesn't have a load attached to it yet so it is just charging my battery. Have not seen many people with solar panels installed so I decided to share it.

Also excuse the wire showing, It was not in the correct spot when the photo was taken. Now it's going to the left and down the driver door.

Looks great. I installed my Project 99 Yukon Dual Battery System here so I could add solar eventually and be able to run a bunch of 12V accessories when I am in the mountains. There is nothing like keeping a few creature comforts in the field and not having to worry about big battery drain.

What did you use for your regulator? I have researched this area and since I wanted to just get the second battery in (and replenish the coffers) I have time before I jump on a solar system.

I think the best brand of roof rack is a custom build. It will probably cost you about the same as an expensive name brand once you put all of the accessories on it and you will have a more secure and stronger system. Talk to a local fabricator and get a quote. You might be pleasantly surprised about the cost and also get exactly what you want.

Notwithstanding what ever load/charging/regulator limitations there may be to prevent an overcharge, this is a really great idea, especially for remote applications. Nice work.
