I have a 2005 Tahoe 4x4 that I’m looking to turn into a high hp AWD Tahoe. I would assume the AWD front diff out of the similar year silverado SS would be a direct swap. Has anyone done this or have knowledge on the subject? Could I use my current t case? No worries on the gears I would be gearing the rear to 4.10 and having the front to match.

I can’t speak from experience, but would recommend this guy’s videos. He’s done some great work, and provides excellent details.

You can reuse your original front diff (obviously gears have to be changed to match rear diff if a gear change is wanted). There is a aftermarket part available that replaces the dront diff electro mechanical lock. You remove the lock motor and replace it with the aftermarket part which is essentially a cover plate with a gauge pin welded to it that locks the front diff at all times.
The 246 Tcase cant be used as a AWD Tcase. The Borg Warner model has to be used which is original in the Denali and Esky and the other pickups that have AWD factory. My 05 Denal has the BW Tcase. I hate that I saw this thread. A pickup with AWD and a 6.0L sounds very useful! Reaching for my wallet!

After watching the video it looks like you can also use the NV/NP149 also. Thats good to know!
