Sounds but little feel at the steering wheel.

Only thing I can cause to reproduce it is 40MPH at 1000RPM.

Where to from here?

No codes.

Does it do it on acceleration and deceleration both? Or just one or the other?

Seems only off the gas. So coming to a stop, letting off gas, it runs the downshifts, stutters and I see the 40/1000.

Well, that's about as slow as we can go in 6th gear. Torque converter clutch? How many miles are on your trans and fluid? WEll, I'm presuming you have a 6-speed, who is the patient?

I'm at 121k. Owned since 96k.

No work I did. Doubt PO did any.

I have all the fluids for transfer cases and trans, with filter.

Just a curious question. On the old 700R4's if you had a TCC going out on you and shuddering you could unplug it and run it without it. Is that possible on the newer trans's we have?

They go into trans limp mode without the TCM hooked up or if the fuse blows on it. (Don’t ask me how I know) It’s not a good place to be if you want to get anywhere fast.

Limp in mode is no fun. I did not deal with it personally but a friend did and drove 25 miles that way.

Drive it at 60 mph, put it in neutral, see if you feel it right away.....if not then down to 40 mph (i know you wont be at 1k rpms) but just to see if its driveshaft/ujoint related.

Whatever you do, if you do this shift to neutral at 60 mph, do not slip in to wrong gear. Man, that would suck but would be cool to see happen. :chewie:

See if it coincides with AFM activation. Cycle through the DIC screens until you get to the one that shows "V4 or V8 MODE" and drive so that it shudders. Blip the throttle and see if it clears up along with being in V8 mode, then if it returns once back in V4 mode on deceleration back to 40 MPH.

You could also hold your trans in M4, accelerate above 40, then let it decelerate in 4th down to 40 MPH. If it doesn't shudder at 40, let it continue to decelerate until you're at 1,000 RPM and see if it shudders then.

something is off your staying stuck in 6th gear @ 40mph
transmission solenoid is bad or slow...

(but 40MPH and 1,000rpm(sometimes it will be 1200 rpm or higher on acceleration) would be normal for the 2Mode not your sub suv)

I will try this.
