Actually, If anyone has the wiring diagrams for a 96 I could pass on both of those right now.

I have an alldatadiy and the manuals in pdf form for my 98. To me, alldata has the same stuff as the manual - a lot of times it looks like scans from the manual.

I use alldata more often. It’s easier to navigate and the indexing system in the manuals drives me nuts. At $20 or $30 a year, it doesn’t bother me.

I've been meaning to ask you as I know you use AllData. I just wondered if they had anything I wouldn't find in the manuals.
As a younger man I always liked having the repair manual on hand, but that was before the internet. I have the Haynes but it's usually pretty vague as it covers so many years and models.
I'm cheap and both options seem expensive. I might just have to pay the $30 and make myself a PDF manual.

Only reason I want it right now is to start trying to track down my electrical gremlin. I noticed my issues have been items on fuse 14. Hoping to start to try to narrow it down some.

I’ve thought of printing out the PDF, but it’s probably a couple thousand pages. I got mine here, but don’t see any for 96:

I picked a random section from the manual and compared it to alldata. It’s pretty close. I wouldn’t mind having a paper copy of the manual, just haven’t felt like dropping the cash on a set. Too, I’d probably ruin the pages with grease.

Manual pages:

Lots to choose from on fuse 14. Let me know if you need a diagram for any specific components, a 96 vs 98 is probably close enough for government work.

Best case scenario, I would have both. But I have the ALLDATAdiy because of the price and the fact that if anything has changed or updated since the manuals, it should be in the alldata. I have seen numerous revisions to shop manuals over the years and companies like All Data make those revisions as well.

Thanks for the info. There are some caveats. No good for my 96.

  • GM Vehicle Diagnostic Service (1998-present)
  • Collision Repair Manuals (1998-present)
  • Frame sectioning information, panel replacement procedures, and recall information
  • Campaigns, service bulletins, and preliminary information for GM (1980-present)
  • GM Owner’s Manuals and glove box supplements (2003-present)
  • Easy-to-use keyword/document/number search

The thing that got me was the price. ALLDATA is $29.95 a year. The AC Delco set up is 3 days for $20, one month for $150 and one year for $1200.

Talk about a dealer/manufacturer markup!!!!!!!!!!!!
