Shift Indicator Fading?

This is a common issue. You need to reflow the solder for it on the cluster board. A few searches should yield some results and how-to's.

Mine were very dim and I just replaced my resistors for the indicator

Most of the time they just need to be reflowed, but you're in there anyway, so I see the logic in replacing them. And adding trans temp, and LED's, and a new gauge face, and cool needles.... Lol

I just didn't do the trans temp because I don't find it necessary haha

What's up with the trans temp? Please post details or links.

Here's a couple links. All the clusters are wired for it, and the sensor is installed. You need to add the stepper motor, gauge face, and a needle. I think the consensus is that starting somewhere mid 2004, a tech II programmer is required to "turn on" the function. Older trucks it will just work.
