2023 Tahoe brake life reset

I changed the front brakes in my 2023 Tahoe including the brake life sensor. On the dash I can get to the menu to reset the brake life but the option to reset the life is disabled.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I have read that you need a scan tool to do this. I tried with my friends Snap-On scan tool but his subscription expired so we can’t get to the required menu. I’m hoping there is a way without a scan tool but if not does anyone know of a cheap scan tool that would work? I really don’t want to pay the dealer to do this.

Does the owners manual address it, if you don’t have a hard copy there is one available online. You should be able to do a Google search as well. Someone should chime in soon.

I have used Google and ChatGPT and nothing I have tried worked. The owners manual doesn’t address the reset options being disabled.
