Sanity Check on Timing

On any engines I ever worked on, I did not have to drop the oil pan to do a timing chain.

quick question for you: Did you have to drop the oil pan to get the timing chain swapped out or just choose to for ease of installation.
Wondering if I have options or not.

I think you will have to drop the pan. In at least the corners, the gasket was likely put on with RTV. So there is a good chance you will damage the gasket when you take the cover off. Unfortunately.
