Review this PPV, Ceramic and Blackout quote

My 22 Tahoe High Country arrives in less than a week, and the first thing I want to do is get PPV, ceramic coat and blackout the chrome. I got this quote from a local shop and wanted to see what others though of this quote.

From quotes I have seen, PPF/Ceramic look to be priced good.

Considering you can buy cut outs for everything except the grill and the lift gate stripe, for under $200, thats what I was thinking, too. I would imagine 2-3 hours of labor and maybe 400 total in cost.

Still, might be worth overpaying by $500 or so to have a professional do it.

If they put the blackout for an all in of 1k or the whole package under $5500, I think that would be a pretty solid deal.

PPF seems high, ceramic seems about good, blackout i don’t know. I had quote ppf of front bumper, partial hood, mirrors, door edges $1425 plus tax.I havnt gotten it done yet, I think I will get my new Silverado done when it comes tho. I do more driving than my wife’s Tahoe.

I got a quote here in NJ for XPEL products on a YUKON; ceramic was 1795 same coverage of PPF was 2395. All in all pretty comparable. Blackout seems kind of high/

That seems decent to me. I bet the front bumper is a nightmare to wrap and have it come out nice with how complicated it is. I haven't looked into it but if there are OEM blackout pieces available (potentially OEM pieces from a different trim level), I would get those over wrapping. I'd bet $1650 would go a long way towards that and would look a lot better and last a lot longer.

You don't want the front grill wrapped; road debris will cut thru that like tinfoil. anything facing front should be removed, painted and clear coated and replaced.
90% of my body pieces were pulled painted and replaced. A few had to be wrapped for practicality. I did pay more than you, but my wheels were Powdercoat, and vehicle was paint corrected and ceramic coated also. It was done thru my dealer, who also warranted it also. I'm sure I paid too much, but it was all done in a week and was ready to go at delivery. worth it to me as many places body shop wise are backed up for months at time now... 1st year so far has held up very well.

The blackout is maybe a tad high but maybe different for a chevy. A lot of that extra could be the grill. I got a quote to wrap all chrome on our slt and it was $1100 including the grill but they also said they were hesitant to do the grill as it has lots of tight curves and they didn't think it would hold up long term. I ended up installing a black oem grill so won't have to worry about that. I've had pieces wrapped on the front end of a couple vehicles and they looked just fine after years of driving. Professional stuff is pretty tough, but I would not trust those cheap blackout kits from ebay at all.

That said, going with paint isn't all that much more money all things considered. I also got a quote from a local bodyshop and it was $2200 to remove all chrome pieces, prep and paint body color or black and re-install. That did not include the roof rails though. Undecided as to which way to go as my wife doesn't really mind the chrome and I don't like it at all. Paint there's no going back, wrap can be undone if so desired.
