RESET COMPASS 2015 Tahoe

I have researched this to the point of no return with no results! Everything I've read and heard says there is an option in the DIC to reset the compass. I've yet to find that option anywhere. It's a small thing but I refuse to let this keep driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For a 2015 Tahoe, the compass is calibrated through the Driver Information Center (DIC) in the gauge cluster, not a separate mirror button.


Do this with the vehicle in Park, engine running, in an open parking lot:

1. Use the steering‑wheel buttons to open the Vehicle Information / DIC menu.
2. Scroll until you see a message like “Press to Calibrate Compass” or “Calibrate Compass.”
3. Press the check/set button (or press and hold the trip odometer stem, if you don’t have the steering‑wheel DIC buttons) to start calibration. The display should change to something like “Calibrating: Drive in Circles.”
4. Drive slowly in tight circles (under about 5 mph) until the display shows that calibration is complete or the normal direction letters (N, NE, etc.) return.

If you never see a compass calibration option, or it just stays on “CAL” no matter what, there may be a GPS/compass module issue or software fault, and a Chevy dealer or good shop can scan it and update/reset the module.

I had my battery unhooked for a couple hours and the word CAL came on in that spot. After I drove around a bit it started showing the direction. So maybe just unhook the battery for a while?

when it shows CAL the correct method is to drive in a semi-tight circle several times under a open sky, then turned and go in the opposite direction in several circles.
there is also a region setting, I believe (1-10), although I do not have the specifics for the K2xx
when the battery is disconnected on the k2's you may get a calibrate drivers window message also and that is done by holding the button to raise the window then continue holding the button for 5 seconds, then lower the window and continue holding the button for 5 seconds.

the ambient temp may also be incorrect, the method for that is to drive for up to 5 miles on the highway or at highway speed for up to 5 miles and it will automatically self correct.
