reattach door rub guard trim...

what kind of adhesive is everybody using for this? Silicone seems crude, epoxy is too permanent... I need to also figure out how to hold pressure against it while whatever I use cures.
Ideas?

I'd use a bit of clear silicon caulk, with duct tape to hold it on place for 24 hours. The caulk has adhesive properties, but can be easily removed if needed.

They make trim tape made especially for that. Look it up.

Believe it’s called mouldong tape. 3M makes most of them.

Like @ReaperHWK posted, clean off old tape best you can warm up trim with heat gun then press on to double face tape you have installed on door panel. Probable good idea to put tape over molding for a while to help secure repair.

unfortunately, they now have bends in them... I might need to remove entirely, straighten, then reattach.

Thats why I would use heat to soften molding and use duct tape to secure. I think from my experience you will ruin molding removing.

The 3M tape will stick right away. If you're unsure of that, park the truck with the door a few inches away from, say, the garage door opening or some sturdy vertical object. Then wedge some pieces of wood or other not-too-hard material between them to force the moulding against the door skin.
