rear monitor in black and white???

ok so I hooked up the old vcr today in the truck and what do you know its in color now. Im assuming that it has something to do with the output signal s between a 99 audiovox vcr and a brand new pioneer dvd...any ideas? im somewhat familiar with PAL and NTSC
