Just the other day the rear seat entertainment system stopped working in our 2010 Yukon Denali XL. Neither of the rear screens will display a playing DVD in the head unit, although the rear screens are clearly being powered and are back lit. The screen in the head unit IS playing DVDs perfectly fine. I also noticed that the rear seat HVAC controls in the rear center console stopped working at the same time. I have checked all fuses and relays and I can't find anything obvious.

Pulling the rear seat entertainment fuse causes the rear screen backlighting to quit as expected. It would seem the "signal" isn't being sent or received by the rear units. From my understanding the head unit sends the video signal to the HVAC/RSE module in the back of the center console, then shoots the signal to the rear screens. Any ideas if this could be the problem? Wiring diagrams would be great too!

Thanks!

I would guess it has something to do with the module in the console. Does it have power at all? After the vehicle has been running for awhile does it feel warm to the touch?

The RSE unit doesn't appear to have power going to it at all. The display doesn't light up when selecting any of the buttons. The unit used to be warm to the touch after the car had been running... now it's completely cool.

I know you said you checked the fuses but have you tried replacing fuses #13 and #19 (driver's dash fuse box) with new fuses? Sometimes its hard to spot a blown fuse when the blown spot is not in the middle of the link.

Did replacing the fuses work for fixing the problem? I haven't had an opportunity to check the fuses yet, but I'm experiencing the same problems now.

Keeping it simple I’d try pulling the head unit and making sure the harness connectors are seated. It’s an ez YouTube how to if you haven’t done it beforehand.
