Rear overhead entertainment delete?

Hey guys,

Recently upgraded my head unit which no longer worked with the rear overhead screen. I replaced it with an aftermarket one that seems to be getting the job done.

But I have decided I want to go a different direction. I want to install some rear headrest screens. I have found a couple that should work with my head unit.

I made this decision because my family just got back from a 9 hour trip and noticed at night with the screen down the auto dimming doesn't work because the rear view mirror is obstructed by the screen.

So my question is, has anyone deleted the rear overhead entertainment screen? And if so, how do you cover the hole?

Just leave it or buy an overhead that is comparable or with apps. I will buy your old one because I just have a baby girl and would love to modify my truck. If I don’t go the overhead route I may buy the GM usb power port iPad/tablet holders or get the app type dvd headrests that are 10”-12” or bigger.

I already bought the aftermarket rear screens and will be removing the overhead entertainment.

The overhead entertainment is aftermarket also since I replaced it a while ago to work with my new head unit.
