Has anybody found a "fix" beside replacement, for the delamination of the rear hatchback glass from the metal hinge? I just bought a 2004 Z71 Hoe and found out mine is delaminated. Hope I can fix this without getting a new rear glass. Safelite quoted me $480 to replace the glass. Of course I talked to a receiptist and not a technician. Thanks, Rudy.

picture of this delamination? when i was in college in lubbock i used my rear defroster and them received a call a while later after i got back that my rear hatch had broken. my only guess is that the extreme hot to cold shattered the glass after i had parked it. was the one and only time i've ever used it.

but anyways, i paid about somewhere around 450$ for mine to be replaced at the dealership there. that piece of glass is not cheap :/ only way you'll probably find it much cheaper is at a junk yard, and that isn't going to be an easy find.

Are you talking bout delamination of the defroster or glass hinge from glass? My window had the hinge break off the glass but I went to a glass shop and got some super strong silicone for RV windshield. Cleaned up the metal piece and glass then re-installed it with a pile of silicone, so far its great but I dont use it very often.

I just bought some auto glass urethane adhesive. I was going to attempt a repair with that. I'll let you know how it goes.

I made my repair to my rear hatch glass hinge today. So far it is holding up. I don't plan on using the glass too much though. I used 3M fast cure auto glass urethane to bond the hinge back to the glass. I'll keep you posted on how it holds up.
