rear end change

Have a 2002 chevy Tahoe that was changed over to 4:88 gears, now over time the rear diff has a loud wine, so i want to put it back
to stock 3:73 gear ratio. Only want to do the rear diff now buying a complete unit from the bone yard. Question is as long as i don't put it in FWD i should be ok? Ill eventually replace the front.

So now the lift and bigger tires are gone? When I had a purpose built 73 Blazer that I did heavy off roading with and rock crawling with, I had 38" tires and 4:88 gears.

Yes all gone now , have 31" tires now, came with around 29" tires
