Anyone tried it yet, or am I about to guinea pig this?

AFP offers the front coilover, which I'll be installing regardless. I wanted to keep all 4 corners similar, so I figured I'd use Viking's in the rear, too. Upon browsing, it looks like you can get the shocks with a smooth body, or threaded for a coilover setup. The shocks can be mounted inverted, too.

Has anyone tried a coil-over-shock setup in the rear?

probably going to end up in a fab-your-own area running coil over's and a solid floating rear axle, I don't think you will find many if any off the shelf stuff, check with the desert racers

I think the last I saw this topic there wasn't much of a benefit to fabricate the rear end to facilitate coil overs

Did you switch to coilovers?? I'm tying to decide if I should or not?? Dual rate coilover sounds very appealing...

Received quote on an incredible sounding pair of long travel dual/progressive rate rear coilsprings last Thurs.. Then bought some threaded Bilstein 8125's that I can run as if they were smooth body Friday.. But Ive got to decide asap if dual rate coilovers are going to be so much better than a custom made set of coilsprings that it justifies all the time I'll have in fabbing the mounts for coilovers??

I did not make the switch, though I'm still intrigued by the idea.

After a couple weeks of trying to figure this out... I'm not sure there is enough room to package the coilovers w/o intruding into the interior space??

On-road sounds much easier because they would be shorter, but if you lowered then that is negated...

Off-road has 8-10" more overall length to deal with, and they're nearly 2" wider..

For extreme driving, on or off-road they should have a couple degree lean towards the middle... Tough to package...

The coilspring quote I got however sounds much easier... (as long as I can get them in lol) Drop in 22" free length, 5.75 compressed, progressive rate from 170 > 230 in/lb, and will maintain a ride hight length of 14"....

Those are some serious spring numbers! 2"+ more travel than the long trav option Dirt King sells for Ram 1500
