"Glad you have it fixed, also nice DIY on the tool, I have a front diff waiting to be rebuilt and this might come in handy."

The Tool was made from a Gasket Scraper purchased at Lowes, it had the 3/8" square shaft I needed, I bought that for $16, cut the handle off using my wire brush on the grinder to burn through the plastic. 3/8" bar stock would have been better but I could not find one and no one local had 1/4" bar stock either, plus the 1/4" 3' length if it was in stock was $26. Once I had just the metal gasket scraper I was able to cut off the scraper end and divide the remaining 3/8 square bar into 3 even length pieces. I think the socket was an 1 1/8" socket that was an extra I had around. Verify that fit before building one. The socket needs to fit inside the axle shaft and needs to be a good tight fit. If it is loose you probably won't be able to torque the bearings properly. This one fit tight and I was able to get the torque needed. ( the 2006 and older front differentials use a different carrier nut and lock tang so this would not work for the early trucks)

Just a follow up, both differentials are still quiet and smooth and zero leaks so all good so far. It is now March, work was done back in August for the Front Diff and I think it was May for the rear Diff.
