Every time that you open/close a door while in park the running boards on that side of the truck go up and down right away. Driver gets out the boards deploy and retract almost as soon as the driver closes the door. Kid gets out of back seat after you yell at them to get off of their damn phones and the boards deploy again. You can actually get stuck in the middle with kids jumping out after you close the driver door and the boards are retracting (safety concern). If you are standing on the boards with the passenger door open to do something on your roof and the passenger closes the door the boards will retract while standing on them (another safety issue).

When parked they should stay down for a longer period of time or until you lock the vehicle. There is an option menu item to change this and keep them deployed while in park (in order to access the roof), but it is buried deep and it only works for a single use. So the truck reverts back to the original setting after it is put in drive.

My 2016 Yukon Denali had the fixed boards, so this behavior is new for me. It also seems like this behavior is going to cause so much additional wear and tear on the motor.

The LEDS are pretty cool underneath the Running boards.

Up here to the right
They all do it.
Wait till you’re backing up or moving foward with the door open and foot on the running board.... it goes up and down 19,000x
Just make sure you get a good silicone spray lube and keep the hinges lubed and they will be fine

The powered boards don't like freezing weather and extreme cold (here in ND/MN they tend to make it about 3 winters). Yes to keeping the hinges happy.

Hi
What do you all use on the running board hinges to keep them nice and happy? How often do you put it in the hinges?
