What is the plug here for? Is it for an option I don’t have or what? Never noticed this guy hanging out by itself, nothing around for it to plug into that I could find lol

It goes to nothing and is on practically every gm suv/pickup out there, may have been some optional thing they never put in these trucks
***it could have been intended for a coolant reservoir level sensor some trucks have the sensor and some do not

Nope it never had one
probably the plug where it would have gone then. not uncommon for something to get discontinued on the previous year but the provisions for it are still somewhat there. or as stated prior something thats optional thats not on yours but the plug for its still there. hell the build sheet for my g6 showed an ash tray as an option so i asked about it. its literally just an ash cup that sits in your cup holder. so they always have stupid options you can opt for like a hood light.

I doubt it, the hood light area is the other side of the engine bay. Gm stopped putting them on, but the indentation for it is still there- drivers side. This is pass side

It was loose and I wanted to clean-up under the hood. I didn't like that 20 year old wire hanging loose when I opened the hood. Guess I'm just weird like that.

Maybe they make some kind of dummy cap that snaps onto it to give it a finished look and protect the open pins? Maybe even one that has a mounting tab so you can mount to the firewall?
