2015 with 97k on it. Good service records, but based on driving and trans temps, no transmission thermostat change happened so I expect no other precautionary measures were taken . Does anyone have the part and service bulletin numbers handy? Plan to change to a Denali grill and 20 inch rims. Hope she serves me as well as my 99 has and my 2009 did. Pardon my photo skills, I'll get better lol 20230625_200347.jpg20230619_122506.jpg

Looks to be in excellent condition and very well maintained. Love the color. Glad you have service records.

My transmission in my 5.3 2016 Tahoe went out at 123K miles. The GMC dealer replaced it in Florida and of coarse the thermostat.

Had the transmission fluid changed out every 40K miles at Sheehan GMC in South Florida and at Paramus Chevrolet before it went out. I will be due again towards the end of the year so will let Paramus Chevrolet do it as I should be back in the area at that time.

Thinking of using Paramus for the next scheduled maintenance. Did you change the thermostat on the trans prior to replacement at all?

My favorite color!!!!! Nice find for sure. Dig it.....

I did the the cooler thermostat upgrade. Better than the updated OEM ones. Towing I run 170 deg. in 100 deg ambient, and not towing 150.... Every little bit helps.... I think the quicker you can get the temps down the longer the life will be.

No. That was my bad.

Been dealing with Jim Kobernick at Paramus Chevrolet. He managed to take care of me late on a Saturday a few weeks ago with a issue with the cooling fans. He even got me a super cheap rental Equinox out of his fleet for the weekend. If you talk to him mention you know Gary with the White Tahoe. He will probably take better care of you.

Thanks and ordered. A reliable transmission shop should be able to install this with no trouble, or better to have the dealer do it at my scheduled maintenance when manual says transmission fluid should be changed?

Yeah, any good shop can do it for sure. May be worth having the fluid and filter changed and do this at the same time.

What's the difference between this and TVB 86774933, besides price? I see they are only slightly more costly, but it is a GM part. Apologies if this is a stupid question.

No stress, the TVB is a complete replacement of the bypass thermostat. It is the updated design that has a lower temperature thermostat in it. Supposed to be 180 degree if I am right. The other one keeps the factory housing and only replaces internal components inside the valve. All the truck guys swear by it and Im sold on it after installing it.

Looks nice. I would want to do fluid drain and refill when doing the bypass upgrade. Maybe consider a Range AFM delete.

The 97k maintenance calls for trans fluid and filter change so I'll probobly do it all at 1 shot. I've heard of the RAFM delete and what it does but not sure what it is exactly. Wheres best place/option to get that done?

Buy it here and plug it in to your OBD under the dash. Simple as that. I've seen better mileage with this and 8 cylinder all the time. Sorry missed link: https://www.rangetechnology.com/

What should I look for as far as lifter issues (is there a way to tell they're going bad before it's too late)? Also want to disable the AFM as suggested, but if there are issues already i rather it fail now while under warranty. I suppose disabling it would prevent any further issues if there are any already though. Scheduled service for trans fluid and filter change. Will also request they install the superior stl010 I purchased.

Basically a lifter can stick closed and you have some ticking or roughness. Not sure if there is a way to know ahead of time. It's certainly not every 5.3. If it's running good, I would install the AFM Range device .

Got first good drive in it today and no complaints, 200 mi rd trip (I'm gonna leave the AC issue for later as I was the only one on the ride complaining. Probobly because the payment is in my name) Trans temps were in 190's [90+ degrees out] and AFM was in effect. I'll get those 2 things addressed, front window tinting, and a good cleaning will be all for the moment:)

May have to go to the dealer @Miami-Dade, I think, suggested in Paramus. The one I went to didnt want to do the bypass nor the fluid and filter change. They said the trans fluid looked dark. Isn't that a great reason to change it? Mentioned problems could arise which is better now while it's under warranty, rather than later. They suggested changing transfer case fluid but that was done about 10k miles ago according to the carfax.

The last time Paramus Chevrolet changed the trans fluid they did not change out the filter. When I brought it up they said they do not do that. Fluid after the change stayed clean for the next 40-50K miles till I changed it again. The dealer in Florida said they do not do the filter either. I called several other dealers in Florida at the time and all gave me the same story. I am sure some dealers do it but none of mine do.

Yes I would change it out. I never saw dark trans fluid in my Tahoe since day 1.

Greenbrook GMC didnt offer to just change the fluid, they just sent me packing lol. If Paramus doesn't work out I got a trusted old school transmission shop that might do a simple drain and fill for me. If changing the fluid damages it, it was already doing bad. Cabin filer change helped my AC concerns. The lady so happy she dont have to hear about anymore lol.

Yes I recently changed my Cabin Filter [as I going back in the road Monday] and it definitely helped.

Just so you know there is a good Diner right by Paramus C [Suburban Diner] which is very good. Been going there for years. The main downside to Paramus C is the constant congestion on Route 17. Last time I was there neighboring towns had their PPV Tahoe's in there for service.
