that's nice too. i just never liked that factory red logo. i think it's the first thing i change everytime i buy a GMC :)

I like the grey too.
I got the inspiration for that look from the Sierra C3 grille:

Escalade Roof Rack swap install

i know there is a few of these in the forum. But i might as well show my process.

Remove the old one. Used a Torx T-25. 10 Bolts. 2 on the front of each rail, 2 on the rear of each rail and one in the middle of each rail.

d53.jpg

you have to slightly pull up on this tab to release the feet from the rails.
(i took the pic after it was off for more light)

d54.jpg

Then just slide your old rails off the channels and take all the pieces off

Gosh, it looks so clean with NO Rack i almost changed my mind and left it!

d55.jpg

cleaned the dirt and residue a little

d56.jpg

install the anchors into the center hole of each rail.

d57.jpg

place the new esky rail over that hole and then slide the rail forward until your front and rear mounting holes are aligned

d58.jpg

once it's lined up, don't forget to put the plastic feet UNDER this. (i forgot this step the first time)

d59.jpg

but luckily, i unscrewed it and fit them under it after the fact :)

d60.jpg

Screw all the rails back on then slide your cross arms back on from the rear.
(there is a safety tab/notch on the front that prevents it from being over slid, so bring em in from the rear of the vehicle)

d61.jpg

tilt the end cap edge into the chrome rail then you can push them into place snug.

d62.jpg

All done!

I have to remove my rack soon for the vinyl wrap, thanks for the pics...I am also considering going with no rack

nice. is yours dark green? thats such a cool rare color. what color are you wrapping it?
it is the polo green i believe is what they call it on here. I am wrapping the roof in gloss black. feathering the broken clear coat in this 100* heat is gonna take awhile

Foose Nitrous 6. they're already on her (in real life) :)

yeah i pretty much agree. i would color match the GMC to the grey and would be nice to do the lower amber flowing with the top amber curve line.

Maybe you can achieve that smooth line by doing some amber tint (is that a thing?) over a completely clear marker light?

I would be curious to see the black as a sharp line above the body line. Similar to how the newer land rovers come painted. Difference being the tahoe line isnt as crisp. But has me wondering...

She's done!

so, here's a list of everything fixed on her.

hydraboost leak (life time warranty), oil pan gasket ,oil cooler gasket ,oil and filter for engine ,new AC compressor installed, oil and orfice tube for ac and r134 refrigerent .and a couple seals for the ac ,and power steering fluid for hydraboost. install 3/4 drop kit (rear springs and shock extenders and front torsion keys), then it went to the alignment shop.

here's a couple pics. i wasnt there when he fixed it, he just sent me a couple the other day
