Passive door handle swap

Curious if anyone has changed out a passive door handle on a 2015 Tahoe. I’m looking to replace my LTZ handles with chrome for color matched handles. Curious if I will need to remove the door panel to access the connection for the passive or if there is enough slack to pull the connection through the exterior of the door.

When I swapped mine, I did have to remove the door panel.
