Passenger side mirror wont fold in

I have had the issue now that the passenger side mirror doesn't fold in anymore. Last week it started to stutter to the point that it moves only a mm or so and then back again now. I can hear the motor but the mirror won't fold in. I can move the mirror electronically in all directions, it's really just the folding in that it doesn't do anymore. It feels like there is a mechanical blockage. Any thought? I switched the circular motor inside it some time ago because the mirror would tilt when parking. Didn't have a problem for like 2 months when I noticed this stuttering.

These guys make metal replacements and have good instructions - I've never done it myself because I used it as an excuse to upgrade to towing mirrors.
