What kind of primer are you using?

Bumper/Fender joint started to work the paint. seen this on my Canyon too. ofcourse could bring it to dealer for warranty but don’t want the bumper removed/painted so did a DYI.

Dominion Sure Seal,1K high build primer.Canadian brand.
Ive done several coats and still have about 1/3 left.One can goes a long way.

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to see if they have a compatible brand locally. Starting to gather parts for my rockers and fender repair. Appreciate the info

Temperature climbing back up now so I got the Yuk back into the shop this am. Un thawing it now. Hopefully get a bunch more work done this long weekend.

I was looking for a 2500 CC truck when I found this unit,its definitely growing on me.

Wet sanding the front passenger fender now,not a fun job.

Did you use a little soap in the water when you wet sanded?

Seams to have buffed out ok. I’m happy. I was also better at wet sanding ,found and better backing pad. Chunk of dense foam I had fishing flies in lol.

Yes,the pad made it much easier.I new I had something that would work.Just had to find it.

So onto to the back side. After primer I could see a lot of sanding scratches so some spot putty to fill.

Don’t have enough paint for this section. So spun the truck around and back working on the fuel door area.Gave the inside a quick coat of colour,now sanding the whole area with 1000. Hopefully get paint on before the weekend ends.

I’ve come across a few spots where the paint was bubbling. Very small but after wet sanding they have lifted off. Not sure how to go about this. I had some bigger ones that were there before I started. I filled these with spot putty. But that means primer and paint. These little ones I may get away with a dab of primer and paint with a brush? Not sure.

Trying to get this done and all I’m doing is making more work.

Yeah doin the Q tip dab with primer,maybe 10 or more times to fill lol.

Contemplating the clear coat,In order to avoid a tape line I need to remove my SLT badge.

Yup. Should be able to get it off with fishing line. Also, I was able to remove the adhesive residue with rubbing alcohol when I removed my side moulding to replace the adhesive on my '07.

Some cold nights next few days,Yuk is back outside.
I did get 2 more cans of the good paint so enough to finish,cute chick, she even gave me a touch up bottle for free.

So I cheated and went with a tape line at the SLT emblem. Figured it hides half the line.

Primer and some touch ups.

Quick sand with 1000 and onto colour

Starting clear now.
