Outside temperature showing --- not working

My 2009 Denali is showing "--- f" on the outside temperature indicator in the DIC.

I bought the GM extended warrantee when I got the truck. Brought it in to the dealer last week for a bunch of issues.

They told me the issue is a grounding problem and b/c it is a wiring problem, I have to pay 100/hr for them to look into it. Not sure why I dropped over 1k for the GM extended coverage but it is what it is.

Ay ideas on where the outside temp system grounds to or areas I should look at for broken wires etc.....

Yes it is hot out and I'm loving it. It started a couple of months ago so I'm guessing it isn't that I've reached the max range on the display.
