Damn Jeff, 34k miles??? That's a helluva deal man, that engine looked NOTHING like 34k miles on that trailer..more like 100k.

haha, I just realized I put 34K miles instead of 43K. But yea, it cleaned up pretty good, didn't it? Not like it looked on the trailer.

what did you use to clean the motor so good? I mean it looks like a toothbrush and elbow grease but i am sure you had a faster method

you can power wash motors and crap as long as you know what not to get wet.. but other then that i think your screwd in using brushed and alot of the engine degreaser..

Depending on his resources, you can dip the block and heads and all in an acid bath and if you want to get REAL clean you can steel shot peen it. Makes the engine look brand spakin' new. Get some quality engine enamel and you're good to go.
That engine is looking really sweet man, I'm excited to see what kind of power that will make for your truck. I want a s/c on my 6.0 so bad haha, that would be insane.

I just soaked it with degreaser overnight, sprayed it off, then hit it with some brake cleaner and paint stripper, then sprayed it with some hi-temp engine enamel.
I've been signed up at PT.net for a little while but hardly ever browse there.

Damn, it was so hot today we didn't get nearly as much done as we wanted. It was about 105* and the heat just kicked our asses and won today. All we managed to do was suspend a tarp for shade, drop the motor in place, bolted it to the tranny, and drink about $40 worth of bottled water and gatorade. We probably spent more time taking breaks than we did working. At least the hard part's over. One more day. A cold front is supossed to move in tomorrow, so it should only get up to 101*

The other project in the garage is my bro's 91 Camaro. It had a mildly built 350/t5 combo. We ripped it out and started a sprayed 454/th400 build on it, then changed the plans to a cammed/sprayed LQ9. This one will be a long project since we're basically rebuilding the entire car. Plans include a 6 pt roll cage, tubbing the rear wells to accomodate a set of deep-lipped 20x12 rear wheels and 19x9s (or 19x8) in the front tucked in with a nice drop, and shaved body. Some of the suspension parts are in. Still need to install the tubular control arms and k-member and fab up the rearend and suspension for the wider wells.

Thanks man. Hopefully after Justin fine tunes the pcm I'll get a chance to get some dyno numbers.

Some people might look at a garage full of half assembled cars as a nuisance but I look at it as eye candy.. Nothing like having a car sit in unrecognizeable form and people driving by and giving it the dirty look only to drive it off the garage in due time and drive it out completed and throwing it back in peoples faces.. I can definitely relate to that view. Jeff. Great work man!! Great progress and can't wait to see more....
