2009 Suburban K2500 6.0.

I'm accumulating parts for a mild cam swap this fall and since my 6.0 has 240k "while I'm in there" it's getting an oil pump. I'm already planning on at least the Melling 295HV but my question is would the 10296 HP/HV pump be any better? I currently have ~25psi hot idle and 40psi cruising.

Before this truck I was used to my 01 6.0 which had 60psi all the time so I'm still super wary of it dropping close to 20 at idle even though everyone says that's normal.

Truck is a DD that sees camper and car hauler use, 7-8000lbs plus a family of 6 and all their gear.

I went big, bc I ended up adding more ponies, after I started the cam swap. Might as well consider all the upgrades you plan on doing later on down the road.
headers, forged pistons & rods, AFM delete, VVT delete, etc. while you're in the engine swapping cam, consider doing the VVT delete and upgrading crankshaft too

I agree with the standard Melling pump.. Pressure is a resistance, not an indication of engine health
And pumping more oil and at a higher pressure is just a waste of crank energy in an all season daily driver

170,000 miles at 240,000 I would recommend cam bearings if swapping cam. Bar bell and hand ported mellings stock pressure pump. I agree hp and hv rob power. I have 40psi at idle and about 55psi cruise and can peg the gage at 6000rpms.
