AFAIK, the screens started in the GMT900 models. (2007-2014)Some have screens and some don't. I have an 05 and just replaced mine, same part # as above with @ks03, and I had no screen. You did not share your rig info so cannot go looking for you. Is it a secret?
If I remember right, the screens started sometime during or after 2007.
should not have a screen if your rig is a 2006[emoji2357] 2006 tahoe 5.3 non flex Z71. Ordered sensor for 20$ of amazon and 7$ for screen at advanced auto.

I bought that sensor off Amazon and the parts store said they had the screen i didn't actually buy the screen yet. Guess I don't need the screen. SweetWhat part # did you order and which manufacturer?
I just looked yours up at RA and is the same part number as mine, AC/GM 12677836. In the same application at RA, Dorman lists a sender, 926040, and a screen and show the pic but there is no place to put the screen so that is wasted money. You will not need that screen and hopefully you can get $ back for it. I do see at Amazon the AC Delco #12677836 is $20.50 and I assume that is what you ordered.
