oil pressure at low

changed oil last thurs. used 10w 30 mobil 5000 it was on sale ,but before my oil pressure was fine now it drops down close to 0 but when i put it in neutralit moves up and check gauge light goes off.the truck has a lot of miles should i have used a better brand and better grade or am i lookin at some oil pump probs. also goes back in operating range when drivin only goes down at a stop

300,000 but i read maybe my oil pressure switch may be bad easy fix try taht first .my heater hose came loose the other day sprayin everythihg in the back

is it a major operation replacing the pump,first ill try the switch and cross my fingers

before you get to excited, put a master guage (mechanical guage) in place of the oil pressure sending unit at the back of the block and get a "real" reading of what your oil pressure is at. That is the only accurate way to see the pressure and to see if its a problem.

with 300K, thicker oil (if gauge was fine prior to the recent oil change) will give you better pressure. With 300K, that's really loosened up bearings, rings, tolerances....

I can't seem to get to my oil pressure sender. How are you guys getting to it so easily. My big paws get stuck trying to reach it!

yeah youll have to use big channel locks or get some one with smaller hands easy though
