Oil percentage has - - - % any idea's

Hi all , just had to purchase a refurbished dash cluster , just done an oil change and I can't reset the % as it has - - -% no numbers just the 3 dashes

Any ideas on this ? Have tryed searching but can't find any thing .

Tech2? May have to drive it a bit before it starts calculating what’s going on? Wild ass guess…

Being from the uk don't know any one with tech2 but going to scan it with local garages autel tomorrow and see if it finds any thing

I know that buts it wont display the percentage of the oil no numbers just has the 3 dashes so won't reset .

I think I've read about this when people swap out the clusters, but I'm not 100% sure.

A higher-end scanner might show if the PID gives a value for oil life, and if it's just an issue in the cluster.

EDIT: there is a PID for the oil life in the Torque Pro app, so if you have a modern OBD dongle and that $5 app it may show it.
