sigh... 4th oil change. 4th time I did it same way: after an overnight sit, let it drain for 20-30 minutes.
With full filter, 8 qts again got me barely over the halfway mark.
This is after running the engine for 1-2 minutes to circulate, then setting for 10-12 minutes on a totally flat concrete drive way.
And yes when completely new in dealer lot the dipstick was showing oil level above hash mark...this was just before I drove it home and it had set long enough to do paperwork.
@jfoj is not crazy.
