Wow, that doesn't sound good. Hopefully they'll have the issues worked out soon. What's going wrong with them?

Z06 isn't in production yet ;) Its the regular cars. There are a BUNCH of tests dealers have to do before delivery now to see if they have issues including going WOT in reverse with the brakes applied...
Wow that is crazy quality control may wasn't there.

Oh, thought serge said the Holdup on the A8 Z is cooling of the transmission. And that the M7 had no constraints. My bad... Misunderstood.

Seriously these posts need subtitles.

For real. Are there a lot of folks here typing/using voice recognition from their phones? No one likes a grammar **** but some of these posts are incomprehensible.

First of all, I'm glad your wife is okay. You should remember that for the time being the only vehicles coming with the eight speed transmission are the Yukon Denali. Or, more specifically, the vehicles with the 6.2 L engines. We expect the 5.3 L engines to receive the eight speed transmission in the next model year or two. It sounds as though you need a vehicle before then. For someone purchasing a Tahoe the difference between the 2015 and the 2015i boils down to the availability of the 4G LTE OnStar and inductive cell phone charging in the dashboard. There are also some differences in how the various packages are named.

Thank you Lyon. That helps a lot. That is what sales manager told me. But he also told me the particular vehicle I was looking at didn't have the max towing package (it does) so he lost some credibility. I will still read this thread through over the weekend but I'll probably try to work out a deal on Monday.

You're welcome and good luck.

Can someone help a part time lurker out here? I've been eyeing the new Tahoe for over a year. Wasn't really in a position to buy one until wife's car was totaled yesterday. (Nobody seriously hurt and she was not at fault - other driver ran red light and hit her)

Anyway I am not totally up to speed on differences between 2015 and 2015i. I understand the 8 speed and 4GLTE. What about the rest of the powertrain? What else. I'll try to read all 46 pages this afternoon. I know the owner of the dealer fairly well and he set us up for the weekend with a demo 2015 LT (2400 miles - I think he was personally driving it) with the tow package that has the 2 speed differential. (Heavy duty tow may be what it is called) MSRP = $62K. I could buy at a decent discount Monday.

I have a '05 Avalanche Z71 that I will drive a few more years before the new Tahoe will become mine as then I'll take over the Tahoe and she will "upgrade". Point being I plan to keep 10+ years. I can buy now or can wait.

I'll be working on reading this thread complete, but any quick insight will be appreciated.

The transfer case, front and rear differentials and updated driveshaft u-joints and stub axles are revised and different in the 2015i. I'm not sure if this applies to all of the 2015i models or just the ones with the 6.2L.

It applies to anything with the 8 speed as that's what necessitated the changes.

Finally went to pull the trigger on a new Denali this weekend. Turns out, one that the dealer ordered in September is exactly what I'm looking for so I will be getting that one! I'm told it will be here end of October/first of November. Not sure how accurate that is. They are supposed to get me the order number this week so I can track it.

I went with:
Standard base with 4WD
Iridium with Jet Black
Premium and Open Road Packages
Extra security package (I didn't care one way or the other about this but it was on the one ordered so I'll take it)
Standard 20" wheels

I think that's it! So excited to finally have one locked down and here fairly soon!
Got what I consider a good deal on it based on my research. Under invoice. Maybe about $500 more than Laura but saves me the 5 hour drive to pick it up there since I'm getting it locally. Plus, I really like this dealer. I have not been thrilled with any of the others I've talked to. One actually quoted me 5k above MSRP first and when I told them they were nuts, they quoted $1500 under MSRP. Couldn't believe it since I had already told them what I expected and that wasn't even close to the ballpark. They didn't even know about the 2015i until I explained it to them a few weeks ago. Not people I want to be dealing with, that's for sure!

Anyone know when the ones the dealers ordered Sept 4 should arrive? The inventory manager was out on Saturday so she should be getting me the details today or tomorrow when she returns.

That really depends on allocation more than order timing. If they have allocation and its been accepted it would probably be about 8 weeks from now (depending on what part of the country you are in) as transit time can be pretty significant.

They do have allocation. They were allocated 3 at that time and I belileve 3 every 2 weeks since then. This one was ordered on Sept 4 (the first day they could order the 2015i). I'm told the order was accepted but I guess until I have the order number, I won't really know for sure. So, you think 8 weeks from production if it goes into production this week?

If it was accepted then they have the order number, ask them for it. 8 Weeks is average for most parts of the country, the further you get from Arlington the longer it will take.

Got the order number. It's at 3000 status as of this morning. It's set for production 10/20 (not this week as I had thought) and GM says I can check back after it's produced (on the 25th) to see when I should expect it. GM said it's usually 6-8 weeks after production so I guess I won't have it as soon as I hoped. Oh well...it's ordered and now I just wait! Thankfully they are keeping my trade in on my current vehicle the same no matter how many more miles I put on it between now and vehicle delivery.

If anyone else ends up with a 10/20 production week and hears any updates, please share.

Thanks to everyone here who has responded to my questions as well as all of the numerous posts I have read over the past couple of months. I was fully prepared for the purchase and didn't have to worry with price haggling, etc. since I was so familiar with the vehicle and pricing. More than any of the dealers I talked to, actually. :)

Two weeks after SOP isn't so bad, might be better actually ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking! I was a little bit nervous about being first production week.

I'm hoping I'll have it before Thanksgiving but I'm thinking it will likely be closer to Christmas. I'm in West Tennessee so I'm really not that far from Arlington. Maybe that will work in my favor.

Tennessee will probably cut 3-5 days off transit time I'd think.
