I don't believe that you can, without installing an external interface add-on kit.

But, Dr. Google says the following:

GMC Yukons first received Android Auto on their OEM 8-inch IntelliLink head units starting in the 2016 model year via a dealer-installed software update beginning in March 2016, and it became a factory-installed standard feature by the 2017 model year.

Anyone figured out how to add Android Auto tho their 2016 Yukon SLT without spending a ton of money? A simple hack would suffice.
it's not that hard or expensive figure 300-400 if you DIY or less if you are a savvy shopper
do your homework and figure out the required parts
the 8" screen, the hmi (from a matching vehicle).
you can go used and then buy a obd genie, the genie is for your vin only once plugged in the obd port. it clears the vin out of the used hmi and resets it to your vin.
no need for dealer programming or anything, it will leave the previous vehicles app data in the hmi not a big deal you can go on there and remove it if so desired
ebay is your best option for a used screen and hmi
just be sure the hmi is from a gmc yukon, others will work but the boot logo and misc stuff wont match

Thank you, mine already has the 8" screen. I think i am going to try the dealer update route first before I try swapping out components. I don't want to brick the whole system.
