Hey guys,

A quick question, My friend has a 05 Escalade with OEM navigation and is taking it out to put in a Alpine 7 inch LCD. If he sells his OEM navigation to me (I have Onstar/Bose/XM) Can i just use it as "plug and play" or do I need anything special to make it work?

Thanks,
Anthony

You need:

His amp or another LUX amp
Rewire the amp connector to accept new amp
GPS antenna
The dealer to clear out his VIN because it will be theft locked.
Possibly wire in the VSS wire from the tach wire on the cluster

If your buddy also throws in his stock amp and you do the install, you will probably spend about $120 ($60 for antenna, $60 for dealer VIN clear).

You need a non LUX version of the factory navigation. I have one for sale on eBay right now because I got it and I needed the LUX version...

UPDATE...

Only Escalades and Denali's have LUX or Luxury stereo systems, ie. Radio, Amp, CD Changer, etc.

SLT/LT/Silverado/Sierra/Suburban/Yukon/YukonXL/Tahoe have the non LUX systems.

You can get a LUX head unit to work in a non LUX vehicle (and vice-verse) but Programming the radio from non LUX to LUX or vice-verse can NOT be done at a Dealer with the Tech2. There is something about the NAV radio programming that is proprietary, and only people with access to Delphi base programming can change the radios. A Delphi repair house (Specmo www.spemco.com) can do it for a charge. But it sounds like your better off just getting the correct radio you need. There is a guy that was doing it for the website listed below for $75 plus shipping both ways. He no longer visits that forum, but his eBay name is supposedly maxpower_mi

Touchscreen model numbers

Newest revision LUX TNR-------15800001
Second Revision LUX TNR-------15230099

Newest revision non-lux TNR-----15800000
second Revision non-lux TNR---10379287
First Revision non-lux TNR-------10377287

I can make a good thread/write up and try to get someone to make it a sticky if you'd like... Instead of reading all 100 pages of the link (plus another 56 pages in his "part 2"

Yes, your denali should be a lux (luxury edition) and therefore, you should be able to purchase any radio with the model numbers 15800001, 15230099, or 10377531 and have the dealer reprogram the VIN in for you.

Sorry, still confused

Hi, first time here.

I have a 04 Chevy Tahoe and purchased a 05 Suburban Nav head, part# 10377287. The dealer was unable to program it to work in my car. Said they also tried to "manually input the number, but it was outside of the number range that my car or the stereo would recognize". (not sure which). Is there any other option to get this working, or should I just put it back on ebay. I love seeing the Chevy and Bose logos when it boots up, and prefer the clean looks of a stock stereo, steering wheel controls, etc. The Tahoe originally had the AM/FM/Sat/CD stereo but it was taken.

I saw another one on ebay with this part# 15800000, would that one possibly work?

At $121 a pop for the dealer to program, trying to get it right the second time.

Sorry for all the questions, new to posting on sites like this. Hope I'm doing it correctly and in the right place.

Thanks,
Chris

well, they should not charge you if they can't reprogram! My dealer has done both my TNR 800 nav radios on in my 06 Yukon, and one in my 06 sierra. Took them all of five minutes!

Hey guys, I realize this thread is several years old, and it's not the direct topic I need help with, however this is the closest discussion that I could find to what I need. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I have a 2006 Denali xl. Took the stock touch screen nav unit out to upgrade to a pioneer nav unit with Bluetooth. A family friend just purchased a 2003 Denali xl and is interested in buying my stock nav unit. Would he be able to make the touch screen unit from my 2006 work in his 2003? If so what would he need for parts and or a harness and such? Or would this not work?

should be plug and play, except the dealer needing to VIN the radio. I did this with my 04 Esky (non touch navi) to a 06 (touch navi)
